Forwarded message: From: Self To: @SENDLIST.PML Subject: Adrenal List #43 - Lysodren? Reply-to: Lynn McIntosh Date: Wed, 25 Feb 1998 19:15:09 Hi there. Beth. So glad the 8-year-old is doing well! Great news. I'm putting together a Lysodren list, with some recent/not so recent postings, protocols, etc. May take a little while. Dr. Purcell has requested messages about Lysodren experience for an article, which is great! Now would be a great time to take a moment to send in the current Lysdren protocol you're using and the success or lack of success you're having. Please include how your administering the Lysodren, i.e., the base used and what it is being mixed with by you or the pharmacy, and anything else pertinent. An update on Oreo, Pam? I know you haven't had the estradial retested, but I'm glad to hear her fur is growing in, vulva shrinking, and she's now doing well on Lysodren. Troy Lynn, you are probably our resident expert on Lysodren, from the client standpoint. Could you share Larry's current protocol and what has worked for you? Barb, have you started Tippie on Lysodren? I hope she is well. Tippie is the gal who has had three exploratories (isn't it Barb?), has adrenal symptoms, but the adrenals have appeared normal in all three surgeries. I'll probably be starting Wally on Lysodren soon for his giant tumor and will keep everyone posted. Louise. I hope someone can recommend a vet in Tennessee for Louise. Perhaps the University of Tennesse's Endocrinology Lab (where the adrenal panel blood test is run!) could recommend a vet. You might try Betsy Bailey, or her assistant at the lab. Pam Grant's list might have some suggestions. Write me if you want more info about how to get ahold of either of these people. Gotta go take the fuzzies out in the backyard for their romping! Fuzzy hugs and all that fuzzy jazz, Lynn P.S. We've got so many adrenal fuzzies out there. I've been wondering, among the many, how Max and Bobo have been doing. 1. Hello everyone, I read with interest the post by Carin Riley about the juice from the tree that she has been giving her ferret with insulinoma. My ferret that had insulinoma has passed on, but I am interested in case another develops that disease and would like to share the info with my vet. Could Carin please provide the address of Morinda, Inc. so we may find out how to purchase this product? Hope everyone's fuzzies who are ill start showing improvement. I took our "found" ferret in for shots & the vet said of course she may die of old age next week but she's doing great. Pretty amazing animals! I think found ferret is going to be named Vanilla. No calls yet. The vet thinks that probably by now no one is looking for him. Sad but I guess it happens. I hope everyone is having a nice Labor Day weekend. Lynn, I would be interested in being a part of your Adrenal list. I would also be interested in the name and number of the vet you know that performs adrenal surgeries. I live in Knoxville, TN so I am not sure how far away your vet is, but I could at least have my vet contact him for advice. I have heard so many different opinions on taking out the second adrenal. Do you know what the life span of a ferret on supplment hormones is as compared to one on Lysodren? I do have my concerns in having my vet take out the second adrenal. He has never done this surgery before and said he had concerns of difficulty of taking the secord adrenal. I was also interested in the liquid your vet used to mix the Lysodren. My vet used a liquid vitamin first which my ferret did not like. So I asked him to put it Ferretone. My ferret likes the Ferretone, but I wonder if there is any reaction between the Ferretone and the Lysodren. It doesn't mix well either. I can see the Lysodren in the bottom of the bottle. I try to shake it up, but I can't help but wonder how much Lysodren she is really getting. The dosage is 10ml of Ferretone to one pill of Lysodren and I give her 1ml every three days. If Ziggy was giving her ferret a whole pill it makes me wonder if the dosage I am giving is high enough. However, I have also read where a vet over-dosed a ferret who died within a few weeks. The Lysodren had eaten the ferrets entire adrenal gland. I would be interested in success of the new Lysodren protocol that you mentioned. I appreciate your response, and any additional information you can give me. Thanks, Louise 4.---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Mon, 1 Sep 1997 16:51:49 -0400 From: JC2109 Subject: Re: Adrenal Tumors/Lysodren?/Tennessee Vet? Lynn, In my first e-mail I gave you the wrong dosage on the Lysodren. The girl at the vet wrote ml on one bottle and cc on another bottle. I am pretty sure the dosage is 10cc of ferretone to one pill and I give Ali 1cc / day. Thanks, Louise -----------------------End of Adrenal List #43-----------------------
